The response to the doubt regarding " We would have cut from him the aorta and interruption of the Prophet's vein "

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

{ And if he [i.e., Muḥammad] had made up about Us some [false] sayings, * We would have seized him by the right hand; * Then We would have cut from him the aorta. } [Al-haqqah]

The 'aorta' is a vein connected to the heart that supplies the whole body with blood, and if it is cut, the person dies, similar to the vein that is cut when slaughtering a sacrifice. Therefore, God threatens the Prophet that if he lied about God, even by a single word, God would seize him with a mighty force and cut his heart’s main vein.

Now, let’s look at the hadith: "O Aisha, I still feel the pain from the food I ate in Khaybar, and now I feel as though my aorta is being cut because of that poison" [Sahih Bukhari]. This hadith explains that after the Prophet ate from the poisoned sheep, the pain from the poison continued to circulate in his body until it became severe near the time of his death. He told his wife, Aisha: "Now I feel as though my aorta is being cut because of that poison," where 'aorta' refers to the 'watīn' (main artery), leading some to claim that this means the Prophet died the same death he was threatened with in the Quran, suggesting he lied about God.

But this is false. Let us clarify the matter and understand the Quranic verses:

The truth says: { And if he [i.e., Muḥammad] had made up about Us some [false] sayings } meaning if he said even a single word and claimed it to be from God while it wasn't, { We would have seized him by the right hand; } meaning We would have taken his life with extreme force, as in the Arabic language, the right hand often represents strength, { Then We would have cut from him the aorta. } meaning We would have cut the main vein of his heart that supplies the whole body with blood — a metaphor for ending his life in the most severe way due to the gravity of the crime of lying about God.

For example, it’s like me saying to you: "If you do this, I will cut your throat" — it's a metaphor for the severity of my action against you.

That’s the interpretation of the verses. Now, let’s move on to the hadith:

The hadith is narrated by Lady Aisha during the illness of the Prophet before his death, explaining that he felt the pain of the poison from the sheep offered by a Jewish woman after the conquest of Khaybar. When the woman was asked why she did it, she said: "If you were a prophet, the poison wouldn’t harm you, but if you were a king, I would have rid the people of you" [Sunan Al-Darimi]. Some of the poison entered the Prophet's body, and the pain continued until it became severe near his death, leading him to tell Aisha: "Now I feel as though my aorta is being cut because of that poison."

Now, we ask a critical question: When did the Prophet say this sentence about his aorta being cut, exactly? The answer is in the eleventh year of Hijra, as this was the year he passed away. But when did he consume the poison? The answer: during the conquest of Khaybar, in the seventh year of Hijra. So, the time between consuming the poison and the Prophet’s death was four years.

Let’s, for the sake of argument, accept the claim that the 'aorta' is the same as the 'watīn', even though they are different in detail.

When God threatened the Prophet for fabricating lies, what did He say? He said: { "We would have seized him by the right hand" } — the 'lām' (لَ) in { "We would have seized" ( لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ ) } implies immediacy, force, and no delay. Meaning, if the Prophet had truly lied about God and God had carried out this threat, the Prophet should have died instantly the moment he tasted the poison. But instead, he lived for four more years in health and wellness, leading conquests, receiving delegations, and the Quran continued to be revealed, with people entering Islam in large numbers, and everything was in the best state.

So, does it make sense that God knew the Prophet was lying, fed him the poisoned sheep, then let him live for all this time while continuing to lie and fabricate? No, this is ignorance. Additionally, if the Prophet intended to lie or had lied, he would have removed that verse and not mentioned it. The presence of such verses in the Quran proves the Prophet’s honesty in conveying the message from God.

Furthermore, the Prophet’s death was completely normal, in his bed, in his wife’s arms. So, where is the supposed "seizure by the right hand"? Where is the forceful death? If he had lied about God, he would have died in a mighty and severe way that would serve as a lesson to everyone. But instead, he died a natural death.

And for four years, the Quran continued to be revealed normally. Before his death, the verse ( This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islām as religion. ) [Al-Ma'idah] was revealed. So, God completed the religion knowing that the Prophet was lying? And He let him lie for four years? Have some respect for your minds.

They will say: "Then why did the Prophet say, 'Now I feel as though my aorta is being cut' ?" We respond: This is simply a metaphor for life ending completely, just as the vein is cut during the slaughter of an animal. Can it be repaired and restored? No, it cannot. It is completely over, just like when we say: "The illness defeated him." Do you understand from this that the illness and the person were fighting in a boxing ring? Or do you understand that the person has died?

It’s exactly like that. The Prophet meant that his life was ending permanently, and the greatest proof is that he lived for four years with the poison in his body in a normal way. They will argue: "There are types of poison that stay in the body for a long time and kill slowly." We respond: No, the type of poison in that sheep was one of the most severe and dangerous types. The proof is that the person who ate the sheep with the Prophet died immediately, but the Prophet survived. { Bishr bin Al-Baraa' bin Ma'rur Al-Ansari died } [Sunan Abu Dawood].

And finally, the most important thing for me: The hadith mentions that the sheep's foreleg informed the Prophet that it was poisoned, which is one of the greatest signs of prophecy and of the Prophet’s honesty in conveying the message from God:

{ "A Jewish woman in Khaybar gave the Prophet a roasted sheep that she had poisoned. The Prophet ate from it, and so did the people. Then he said, 'Lift your hands, for it has informed me that it is poisoned.' Bishr bin Al-Baraa' bin Ma'rur Al-Ansari died. Then the Prophet sent for the woman and asked, 'What made you do that?' She said, 'If you were a prophet, the poison would not harm you, but if you were a king, I would have rid the people of you.' " } [Sunan Abu Dawood].

Now, if God wanted to destroy him and cut his aorta because he lied about Him, would He have commanded the sheep to inform the Prophet that it was poisoned, thereby proving the Prophet’s truthfulness to the whole world? How could that be? While sitting, the Prophet told the companions to stop eating because the sheep had informed him it was poisoned. How could he have known it was poisoned unless he was supported by God?

These people will never mention this part to you. They will cut the hadith short and mock it, because that would undermine their goal. Meanwhile, they will quote the same hadith but only a specific part, because it serves their objective.

And this is the comedy of contradiction. If they accept the hadith, they should use the entire hadith as proof. If they reject it, they should close their mouths and remain silent. Their deceit runs through their veins; they pick parts of the hadith that align with their desires and cut out what doesn’t.

And some might also say that God informed the Prophet that He will protect him in Surah Al-Ma'idah, so how could he be harmed by poison ?

We say: Rather, the meaning of protect is security from death, not security from harm. Al-Bukhari mentioned that the Messenger chose death over staying (after completing the religion): { Narrated `Aisha: When the Prophet (ﷺ) was healthy, he used to say, "No soul of a prophet is captured till he is shown his place in Paradise and then he is given the option." When death approached him while his head was on my thigh, he became unconscious and then recovered his consciousness. He then looked at the ceiling of the house and said, "O Allah! (with) the highest companions." I said (to myself), "Hence, he is not going to choose us." Then I realized that what he had said was the application of the narration which he used to mention to us when he was healthy. The last word he spoke was, "O Allah! (with) the highest companion." } [Al-Bukhari]

And all praise is due to God, Lord of all worlds.
